About Karnaprayag Sangam
Karnaprayag is the sacred confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers and the third Prayag in the traditional downstream Panch Prayag sequence.
The town occupies a broad and important point in the Alaknanda valley. The Pindar River arrives from the Kumaon Himalaya and merges with the Alaknanda, creating a confluence that has shaped local travel, settlement and worship for generations.
Sacred tradition associates Karnaprayag with Karna of the Mahabharata, remembered for courage, generosity and devotion. He is believed to have worshipped Surya here, and the Karna Temple preserves this spiritual connection.
Karnaprayag is also a useful transport and service centre. Roads branch towards the upper Alaknanda valley, Gwaldam and parts of Kumaon, making the town practical for fuel, food, accommodation and an overnight halt.
Important: The town can become congested during pilgrimage season. Park only in a permitted area, keep buffer time at the junction and remain behind safety barriers near the confluence.

How to Reach Karnaprayag
Travel from Haridwar or Rishikesh through Devprayag, Srinagar and Rudraprayag, then continue upstream beside the Alaknanda to Karnaprayag.
